Godspell
is a unique show. It is loosely based on the gospel according
to Matthew, but is set in the present, with all the characters
using their own names.
|
| The
idea began when John-Michael Tebelak took a break from
his studies in Pittsburgh, USA and went to the Easter ceremonies
in his local church. Feeling that the church needed to
reclaim its joy and hope, he went home and wrote "Godspell".
It was then rewritten by Stephen Schwartz and the rest,
as they say, is history. |

|
The
show has been performed in as diverse places as the Vatican
and the White House. At the height of its popularity,
there were 15 productions running at the same time in
different places around the world.
|
Godspell
is a celebration of life. In this context, our production
is a celebration of the joy and life (and the many talents)
that exist within our community.

|
The
production coincides with the tenth year of our church
building and what better way to celebrate this anniversary!
