Christmas 'Thanks'
Thanks to all who prepared our church and grounds for Christmas. Also many thanks to all who help with the liturgical and administrative life of the parish throughout the year.

CHRISTMAS PASTORAL OFFERINGS (DUES)
Christmas Pastoral Offerings are being handed in at this time. Thanks to all who have already contributed. Envelopes can be brought to the church and either left into the Sacristy or put into the basket during the collections. Thank you.

Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Annual Indoor Collection. The annual indoor Church collection in aid of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul takes place next weekend. It will replace the Share collection. Thank you for your continued generosity and support.

Giving Sunday – ‘Heart to Hand’ – Sunday next
For adults it is the above collection for the local Conference of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. For the children, non-perishable foodstuffs and, if you wish – toys. Destination – Romania. Toys to be wrapped and should indicate the age group and whether for a boy or girl. (No soft toys please).

HOSPICE PROJECT
Blanchardstown Renault have donated a Renault Clio to raffle for the Hospice Project. Tickets will shortly be available in The Blanchardstown Centre and elsewhere. A Christmas Gift Envelope in which tickets can be enclosed will also be available.

Friday next December 2nd is the First Friday.There will be Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following the 10a.m. Mass until 12noon.

Blanchardstown Renault have donated a car to raffle for the Hospice.  Tickets will be available from next week in The Blanchardstown Centre and elsewhere.  A Christmas Gift Envelope in which tickets can be enclosed will also be available if required.

The Taoiseach Mr. Bertie Ahern announced on Monday last in The Blanchardstown Centre that the Government is donating a site at the Abbotstown complex beside Connolly Hospital for the Hospice.

Catholic Youth Care
The annual collection for Catholic Youth Care (the Diocesan Youth Service) takes place at all Masses next weekend. It will replace the normal SHARE collection.

‘CUPPA & CHAT’ at Laurel Lodge Community Centre (1 minute walk from the church) after 10 a.m., and 11a.m., Masses. The Community Centre Coffee Shop is now open on Sunday morning for coffee and tea at reasonable rates and the opportunity to get to know each other. WHY NOT TRY IT?

Children's Liturgy of the Word
The Children's Liturgy group is a number of volunteers who each Sunday at the 10a.m. Family Mass share the Gospel message in language children will understand. A meeting will be held in the Day Chapel at 8pm on Wednesday, 14th Sept., to set up the programme for the year. All existing and especially new members are welcome.

PARABLE
I'm sure we have all seen a sheet of paper on the wall near a phone, with emergency numbers on it. There's the Fire Brigade, the Guards, the Ambulance, the Doctor etc. It is very useful and advisable to have these at hand. I have never seen God's name on this list! Fás eCollege

Matt Talbot Sunday 5th June 2005
To celebrate the 80th anniversary of Matt Talbot’s death there will be a Mass at 3p.m. on Sunday next, 5th June at Matt’s Shrine in the Church of Our Lady of Lourdes, Sean McDermott Street. Celebrant: Archbishop Diarmuid Martin.

Baptism
Registration for Baptism every Sunday morning from 11.30a.m. to 12.15p.m. only in the Parish Office. It is important that parents with children for Baptism participate in a short Baptism Preparation Programme. Baptisms are held on the first and third Sunday of the month at 12.45p.m. sharp.
A minimum of three weeks notice is required.

MARRIAGE
Three months notice must be given to the Civil Registrar and to both the man’s and the woman’s parish.

Blessing of the Sick after the 5.30p.m. Sunday evening Mass
this weekend.

Next Wednesday is Ash Wednesday – the beginning of Lent.
Ash Wednesday is a day of Fast and Abstinence. Mass at 10a.m. and 8p.m.

The pupils of 6th class will receive Ashes on Ash Wednesday during the 10a.m. Mass while pupils of 3rd, 4th and 5th will receive the ashes in their classrooms.

FOURTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

PARISH PASTORAL COUNCIL
New members to be elected for the Parish Pastoral Council.
Fr. John Hassett will speak about Parish Pastoral Councils at all Masses next Sunday. A brochure will be delivered to all the homes in the parish with information about Parish Pastoral Councils inviting people to propose candidates or indeed for those interested to offer their candidature.

A general meeting of parishioners will be held in the church on Monday, January 31st at 8p.m. for the purpose of making the necessary arrangements for a Parish Pastoral Council.

CLOTHING APPEAL

Thursday next the 6th January is the Feast of The Epiphany of the Lord. It is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Special courses for couples that can help make good relationships better. It is a chance for couples to take time to be with each other and talk about their dreams, hopes and expectations for their special relationship.
