Advent Celebrations with the Schoolchildren.
Alive-O Prayer Service: All (grand)parents, guardians and friends of Senior Infants are invited to an Advent Prayer Service in the church next Friday, December 7th at 1 p.m.

3rd and 6th class will come for a Reconciliation Service and 10a.m. Mass during the week of December 14th. All welcome.

THIRTY-THIRD SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME

TOY SUNDAY - December 2nd
Last year's Toy Sunday was so successful we are hoping that the children will be as generous again this year. We are asking children to bring along a new toy for children whose mother or father is in prison at present. The toys will be going to Mountjoy Prison and will be given by the women to their children at a party organised by the prison. The men will give presents to their children on their Christmas visit. We would ask that all toys be wrapped and labelled by age and gender i.e. Age 3 - Girl etc. The toys will be delivered to the prison during the first week of Advent .Thanks to all the children for their generosity and kindness.

The Flanagan family have asked us to express their heartfelt thanks to all parishioners who donated to the recent outdoor collection in aid of the Missionary of Charity orphanages in Calcutta where they will shortly be working. The amount collected was ?13,700. Through additional donations etc., they now have €17,000. We wish them well.

SILVER JUBILEE - 1982 - 2007
The 11 a.m. Mass next Sunday, 7th October will mark the start of our Parish's celebrations for its 25th Anniversary. Following Mass there will be a reception in the Community Centre where we will be able to meet up with the priests, religious and lay pastoral workers who worked in the parish over the years. The Mass will be signed by Mary Stringer, sign language interpreteter. There will be no 12.15 p.m. Mass that day.

Spread the word. Maybe contact neighbours who have left the area and invite them over. Let us know if you need any help with transport.

SUMMER FILM SCHOOL - August 20 - 24th 2007
This summer the Digital Film School is hosting a 5-day intensive film making course in Castleknock Community Centre. The hands-on, practical course covers all elements of filmmaking. Students write, direct and star in their own short film. On completion of the course all students take home a DVD of the finished film.

The Vocations Icon, based on a drawing taken from the shroud of Turin and blessed by Pope Benedict on Easter Wednesday, will visit The Oratory, Blanchardstown, from Saturday, 7th July until Friday, 13th July 2007. An All Night vigil will be held on Wednesday, 11th July in Main Street, Blanchardstown. This icon, by Iconographer Sr. Aloysius McVeigh, a Derry based Sister of Mercy, will be visiting parishes around the Diocese encouraging on-going prayer for vocations. Please drop into the church that week and say a prayer for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.

PRIESTHOOD SUNDAY
Today is Priesthood Sunday. Special collection this weekend to support the formation of students for the priesthood. It will replace the Share collection. Your support is very much appreciated.

Castleknock Community College Parents Association will be holding their annual Plant Sale in the college next weekend - Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th May from 10a.m. to 6p.m.

On Monday the 7th May at 2.30p.m. the Garda Band will give an open-air recital on the banks of the Royal Canal, at the Twelfth Lock Hotel. There will also be face painters, fun and games etc. The purpose of the event is to welcome home a group of 40 walkers who will be finishing an 80km walk from Mullingar to the Twelfth Lock along the banks of the Royal Canal, raising much needed funds for Our Lady's Children's Hospital, Crumlin. All are welcome.

Third Sunday of Easter

This year's Exam Mass will be on Saturday next the 28th April at 6.30pm. and it is planned that Fr. Richard will celebrate this Mass. We will also take the opportunity to thank him for his contribution to our parish during his time in Blanchardstown.

The Cedar Tree is being replaced by an Olive Tree (a hardy variety suitable to the Irish climate). The olive branch is a symbol of peace and the choice of tree is particularly apt given recent developments in the peace process in the north of Ireland.
The peace now enjoyed by all progressed from the Good Friday Agreement. We are planting the Olive Tree on Good Friday during an Ecumenical Service to give thanks for the peace we now have and to pray for its continuance.
Members of the congregation and clergy of St. Brigid's, Church of Ireland Castleknock will join in prayers and participate in the tree planting ceremony.
The event will take place at approximately 4.00p.m. on Good Friday and all are welcome.

Donald Vambeck who is a member of the Green Monks - a walking group founded 55 years ago and still going strong is walking the Camino de Compostela in aid of the Dublin 15 Hospice Fund. This summer the Digital Film School is hosting a 5-day intensive film making course in Castleknock Community Centre. The hands-on, practical course covers all elements of filmmaking. The Northside Music Festival 2007 is a free music event organised by Dublin City Council, which will be taking place from the 1st to 31st August in various locations across Dublin's Northside. Donald Vambeck who is a member of the Green Monks - a walking group founded 55 years ago and still going strong is walking the Camino de Compostela in aid of the Dublin 15 Hospice Fund. He began his pilgrimage Monday last 23rd July from St. James Gate in Dublin and hopes to reach his destination on 2nd November - his 73rd birthday. This summer the Digital Film School is hosting a 5-day intensive film making course in Castleknock Community Centre. The hands-on, practical course covers all elements of filmmaking. Students write, direct and star in their own short film. On completion of the course all students take home a DVD of the finished film.

'VOCATIONS ICON'
The Vocations Icon, based on a drawing taken from the shroud of Turin and blessed by Pope Benedict on Easter Wednesday, will visit The Oratory, Blanchardstown, from Saturday, 7th July until Friday, 13th July 2007. An All Night vigil will be held on Wednesday, 11th July in Main Street, Blanchardstown. This icon, by Iconographer Sr. Aloysius McVeigh, a Derry based Sister of Mercy, will be visiting parishes around the Diocese encouraging on-going prayer for vocations. Please drop into the church that week and say a prayer for vocations to the priesthood and religious life.
